I think what you see is the clip-on tuner.

Jimmy looked like he was maybe having a little trouble getting around, but his playing was up to his usual standard. And he sounded really good on that ES-175.

No, the entire headstock looks like it's either dirty or the finish is very dull. It's not the same as the body, which looks almost new. The photo posted above doesn't show what I'm referring to, you would need to watch part of the video to see it.

The Sam Raderman show was a lot of fun to watch. I think I'll be making the trek from KC to Birdland next month. I do wish they'd release the guitar night schedule, although I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Cyrille Aimee either.

They generally announce the guests in a block of two months at a time. You can generally find them at the bottom of an event page on the Birdland website.

The guests are subject to change, and Frank is sometimes absent. Last week wasn't Grasso, but Sam Raderman. It's jazz, so not set in stone.

Thx again for the weekly reminder.. Wonderful players and certainly the most lively evening in a long time, audience loves it and the players are having a ball. But, Joscho is a monster player.

Just have to say it: that's an acoustic event for you. Even FV played the game this time, to my surprise.

Or did I overlook cables coming out of either instrument?

Just a head's up to anyone like myself who usually doesn't watch live but the next day,Mike Stern is the guest on 3 of the shows in April,so if you can't catch it live you will not have the opportunity for a replay if things play out like before.

I only watched the first few songs since, for me, this format gets old after that. Based on your post I assume the entire concert was like the start: same acoustic instruments playing in that Django style (with songs well known in that style). (now when I'm actually there that is a different story, so I'm mainly talking about watching a video).

Did they play any monk or bebop? Change the format? (e.g. just two of them, then two of them with just the bass player, etc...).

There's a whole bunch of songs from more classic jazz repertoire, they played well over 1 1/2 hours and they got up to 4 guitarist at a time featuring 2 other players near the end of the evening.

Easy to fast forward a YT though or read thru the chat comments.

Thanks for that info. Adding another guitar, especially if it was another gypsy jazz make, or those "other players" also played in that style, just makes it less interesting for me.

But, if they did a song like Nica Dream, please let me know.

Yah, as was noted by some, I prefer electric jazz guitar, I just feel it's harder to get a good clean note/ chord sound on an acoustic but,

After many a Django tune they did Honeysuckle rose, Found a new baby,Lover man,Songe d'Automne,I can't give you anything but love...Other than the straight ahead guitar playing it was good fun, for them and the audience . Like I said before a most entertaining fun evening which rarely happens as you've pointed out,I usually last a couple of tunes then it gets boring.
That gypsy + evening had more to it, again I'll point to Joscho a phenom of the genre..Worth the price of admission by himself. And I'll say i prefer Frank's solos on gypsy but there were no slouches there!
