Half Nelson is slightly different so it’s worth having a different backing track

Thanks. A bit confusing is chord chart. Most tunes have 32 measures (iirc). I see that for every repeat the measures keep counting upward. I’m used to doing 1st chorus melody followed by two choruses to solo followed by one chorus melody and end, as an example. So to me, I would select a song and using what I mentioned above I would have that song repeat four times, if that makes sense. IReal works like this. Also a prominant display of chorus number and final chorus as a heads up. Thanks a lot

Hi Jonathan - I will feed this back to the producer. You should be seeing a repeat counter (e.g. 2/4 ie. 2nd of 4 repeats) in the left hand side of the chord screen. I assume you are saying we should make this bigger?? Thanks

Do people still do that kind of thing?

Yes, those who use Android.

The app sounds great, but I don't love the way each volume of tunes is a separate app. I also would like to be able to use it in portrait mode.

I'm afraid the separate apps thing is here to stay... but we absolutely have to work on making it seamless so users don't notice... or mind. As I mentioned in an earlier comment on the forum, we began publishing music apps 13 years ago with all of our best content in an in-app purchase and it never saw the light of day. We are a fairly small business and need all the marketing help we can get which is the primary reason for separate apps. Besides, if you think of each volume of Quartet as an album of songs it kind of justifies it. The iOS music app market is incredibly dense and competitive and I would say that very few apps actually make a profit with lack of exposure being the main barrier.

I can't say I really get that logic. As a user, it never even occurred to me that there was some sort of marketing thought behind it, and I just assumed it was due to some sort of technical limitation. If it could be seamless I think that would help a lot. For instance, when you search for a tune in one volume that is in a different one, it open the other volume, but it doesn't go to the tune you just searched for. If it could just open that tune it would be a lot better.

As a piano player, I’d truly appreciate the option to study another player’s comping. But realistically, transcribing 500 different tunes, covering all instruments? That’s a lot of work!

The songs sound great! But a few questions:
This may seem dumb, but what it the difference between Favorites and Playlists? Do you need to have both? I guess I think of a playlist as a list of song that are the ones I want to work so sort of a favorite.
This may be user error, but I find if I make a Playlist with say four songs selected (checked) then click Save Selected the app asks for to name list. If later I decide I'd like to add one or more songs using same method it again asks to name playlists, but this creates a new separate list. To add to an existing playlist, the work around is to click playlists, then the edit button which brings up a list of all available tunes select whatever and then click save at top right. Maybe this is how it works?
I think you mentioned that each song in the database has to start with "In the style of.." because of licensing? But that is sort of annoying, but not a deal breaker. Any idea how IReal and Band in a Box got around this?
What does Autoplay do? And when would you use it? It doesn't seem to do anything when I click on it?
Do you recommend launching all four of the apps first, then do your thing with Quartet?
And yes it would be great to have some sort of view that gives you a heads up as to the final chorus/melody for play-out.
Still learning. Look forward to where this goes!

Paul here from Quartet. We are thinking carefully as to how best we can better represent the ACTUAL voicings for both piano and guitar. Bear with us...we will find a solution that works retrospectively but it might take a few months. Thanks Paul

Is there a place on your website to suggest songs for Quartet? (till There Was You) Also not sure if you saw my post #92?
Thanks.

Wendy is another song suggestion.

In the Sept 3rd update, we put in a bit of extra functionality so that you could save all of your favourites to a playlist with just one touch.
The 12th November update has a number of important improvements to the whole Playlists functionality so not long to wait for that. Include in that update is an improvement which allows you to add a selection of songs to an EXISTING playlist (as you mention) and therefore re-use the search feature to add more songs in bulk. The current method is as you describe but too slow!
I guess iReal gets around the licensing issue by being fairly generic in terms of the piano parts. Not sure about Band In a Box. "In the style of..." is here to stay I'm afraid.
Autoplay (which you can deselect) is the default means of playing Playlists. Press play for the first song and each song in the playlist plays automatically. There's a 5 second silence between the songs.
The connectivity between the various editions of Quartet is greatly improved with the November update but for now, best to have all 4 apps open in the background to avoid occasional issues between songs from different editions.
