Thanks targuit. I'm so low-tech I'm almost no-tech. I have an app (free) called AudioCopy. I put the phone beside my laptop which was playing the backing track and pressed Record. Easy-peasy. The app uploads to Soundcloud and I copied and pasted right into the post. I'm sure there are easier ways but I was just basically feeling my way and it was pretty intuitive.

Mistakes and all... I don't really have much better than this on the day of, but I never claimed to be a pro. I don't know why the beginning cut out, but I know why the ending got cut... :-)
Great tune. Have a good weekend!
Per the actual OP, I don't really practice with backing tracks, but I'm not a good student. I was glad to see that Henry doesn't either and is a "chord tone" brother. Maybe one day I'll get there as well, Henry.Last edited by matt.guitarteacher; 11-14-2014 at 02:53 PM.

I guess I'll just "cower in the shadows".

That was great Matt. I love your style.
Cheers.

Very cool! Had a nice bouncy stride feel through the whole thing that I liked a lot

Just something I found on the forum, from 4 years ago:

Matt and Colin: both very nice!!!

Thanks, Jeff. Yeah. My only "real" guitar. Kind of like you with Taylor, I worked at a small store that was a dealer and got hooked.

I really liked that djangoles. Very cool.

Sounds great! I love these. Keep them coming!

You, too, DJ. Nice tone. What did you record this on? Computer DAW?
Henri - In case you missed it and I think you did, the Bud referred to in my post was short for "inwalkedbud" - one of the posters. It was not some kind of affront to you. But you really don't know when to back off with the hostility, Henry. Not good for your health, you know. Now why don't you chill a bit and give me a chance to do my thing before you continue to hound me. The lecture gets tedious.
And this is not such a bad thing now, is it?

Great stuff, Jeff. You seem to always have a different approach from tune to tune. The Matz well is deep. I need to diversify my listening.

Thanks matt! I tried to channel Ed Bickert and Paul Desmond for this one.
It's "live" in my classroom during my lunch break today. Both tracks are me, tele thru a zt lunchbox, into internal mic on my ipad...a little reverb in garage band added after. Any audience ambiance is a pack of unruly sophomores next store giving a substitute teacher some hell.
Oh, and the sneeze is me, as is my school ID hitting the strings on that altered lick on the E7 near the end. Actual quiet does not exist in my life

I like all the 'Guerrilla Recording' going on. Good demonstration that it's the playing that we are listening too as opposed to critiquing the recording. All you need is a guitar and an iphone (or ipad or other such device).

Hey this thread turned into something cool. great takes everybody. I love this tune.
I'm traveling, so can't do a "minute take", so here's a five year old one I did, inspired a bit by that Goodrick-Diorio duo recording

Wow, wonderful impro! A new item on my todo-list for transcribing ...
