Hi !
I bought a new looper three weeks ago.
This Boss RC-500 is wonderful...

I have the RC-500 too, it's mega fun. I have it setup as two standalone loopers, one at left button, one at right button, and the middle button start/stops both loops. To me it's a much more practical way compared to how they ship it from the factory.
Then I have two empty banks, one for both loops to play together, one for separate (verse-chorus).
It's great for acoustic guitar, where you do body percussion for a couple of bars on one loop, and then it's like jamming with a percussionist! My fav toy this summer! Even for jazz practice, I just have my phone play drum genius drums near the guitar pickup, instant drum track! Then I play a bass line or chords on the other track..
Now the Rc-300 is permanently in its bag..

I just picked up a Donner 2 switch looper with built in drum machine on Amazon using some credit card reward points (basically got it for free) and it's a lot of fun. Will store up to 40 loops onboard and can store more on computer via USB. Pretty neat practice tool when I don't want to spend time making a BIAB track.

I think the next step would be a MIDI controller plugged into the looper.

I think the RC-10R has got better drums.
I don't know if they can work together in MIDI.

I also have an RC-500 looper. I got it at one of GC's sales, but am not really using it right now because other guitar learning activities have priority. I also got a Boss GT-1000 Core at the same sale, which has the exact same housing as the RC-500, though different color and button layout. As far as I am concerned, with these two pieces, there is no need for any other effects or loopers. It is a very simple, yet extremely capable set up with just two smallish pedals.
To the OP: very tasty use of the RC-500!

I have the RC500 as well. Love it. Use it to practice jazz and use it in my solo pop/rock act to add a little dimension to a few tunes. Very well made and user friendly once you set up.

It's a bad quality video but it can be interesting...

A very known standard...
I do the way I can, some bad notes...
Comments and insults are welcome.

Another one...

I am considering ordering an RC-500. I do have a rather basic question. With this looper and perhaps others does the guitar signal at the input jack always get passed through to the pedal output? I assume the volume mixers just effect the recorded track that is being played.

You've got two inputs and two outputs, you can do whatever you want.

If both faders are fully on, does the input jack signal always get fed to the output signal regardless of mode (record, play, dub)?
