The guy on Mandolin looks familiar, I've seen his picture before.

Fabulous, like a Disney fairytale. It's such a great tradition and I'm just happy to ride along and have a slice of the legacy. We owe it to all those factory workers throughout the decades that made it possible.

What a different era altogether! Music and musicians ruled the day on radio and early television.
Funny how starting out on Jimi Hendrix,Michael Bloomfield,Jeff Beck, etc I have come to actually enjoy playing the Great American Song Book probably best. Especially with all of its great harmonic and melodic sensibilities!

Still love other music, but the depth of the writing, and its subsequent effect on later great songwriting like Stevie Wonder, Beatles,Weather Report, etc!

I’m assuming one of them is Ren Wall, Sr.?

ok, on left is Wilbur Marker, he was a manager, inspector and salesman, pretty important part of their history.on right is Julius Bellson, company historian, etc.
I thought the guy in the middle was the great Hank Garland but apparently its Ren Wall, I didn't think he was @ Gibson as far back as the mid 50s. Nice catch Andrew!

The production is essentially the same today. The narrator admitting that consistency and accuracy on carved plates is not really met, “maybe one day”.
Goes to show that copy router wasn't very accurate, the sanding even less so.

    I wouldn’t say no though.

For the record, that’s the father (Ren Sr.). Ren Jr. started working at the factory in 1960 at 18 years of age.

I’m not sure when Sr. started working there, but that father and son duo encompasses a seriously long chunk of Kalamazoo guitar history.
