    Why would anyone want this? If I want to get a muted sound, I just use my right hand to palm mute.

    Actually, when I was studying classical guitar in music school, I practiced with a foam mute right in front of the bridge, between the top and the strings. It improved my technique, articulation, balance, and precision.

    A few months ago I watched a YT video where a guy installed one on a Gretsch Jim Dandy.
