Good game. I feel sorry for the Belgian substitute goalie. Bit of a nightmare for him. But overall, Spain were definitely the better team. Their reward is to face the mighty France in the semifinal. Tough one to call, but my imaginary money is on France.

Spain have done pretty well with both of their main soloists coming out of injuries: Lamine, who has obviously been playing below his usual level and Nico Williams, who got a few minutes today against Belgium. They are the saffron that completes the paella. Next match should be good if they're both fit.

It turn out Spain wasn't boring at all, and did Chick Corea proud. Belgium was waffling and back passing too much, I expected more from them.

The legend has it that the tune Spain was originally named Scotland, but after watching the Scottish team in a World Cup Chick hastily renamed it Spain.

I'm surprised that my fav team Spain played a faster game. Super duper sub scored late again.

Unfortunately, Spain have now conceded one goal in the 2026 World Cup tournament.

France v Spain, hopefully with a bit of luck, Spain could stifle the game with their incredibly talented midfield and stop France attacking.

In case of defeat, we're amalgamating our excuses here in England.

My list of excuses :

1. No available good England defenders.
2. Players feeling ill. (Norway-a-virus?)
3. Too hot.
4. Too cold.
5. Magic Boots stolen again.
6. Wrong Music.
7. Norway played tactics England wasn't expecting. (We didn't realise Norway had the Big man up front.)
8. Red card, this will be a get out of jail card, if it's an England loss.
9. The curse of England losing to penalties once again.
10. It's is never coming home, because England never invented the game of Football, ancient Greece and China played a similar game.
