Actually, if I see middle C written on the staff, it is played an octave lower than written, 5th string 3rd fret. I think I'm saying
the same thing, in a different way. But, that's how I think of it.

To sound middle C, true middle C, I'd have to play it second string first fret. That is true middle C. But, we
don't play it that way.

Are you thinking of the scale position you use, or are you constantly thinking of all those flats or sharps in the key?

For example, we are in the key of A. you have a f# c# and G#. are you thinking of those while you play or are you thinking "i'll just use the a major scale to play.
