Have we done Dewey Square already?

    Edit: Yes

I think Mick is proposing a new tune. I learned the first lick in Moose the Mooch last night in case we go that way.

Honestly we should do the one you want because those slowed down clips you post are invaluable to my process. LOL

Here are all the previous forum threads on this subject:

    Bebop heads: Donna Lee
Bebop heads: Scrapple From the Apple
    Bebop heads: Dewey Square
    Survey: Bebop head no. 5

I see that in the last thread, Groovin' High got the most votes, so we'll add it to the list.

I'm thinking we should put up two selections at a time and let folks choose the one they prefer? That way more people will want to participate.

So we could start with Moose the Mooche and.... what's no. 2?

I think doing 2 tunes at the same time is too much. We want to keep the study group accessible to anyone. If someone really want's to do Mohawk or Joy Spring, they can make it known during Moose and we can do it next.

After the 8 bar piano intro, are the next 32 bars the head?

Sort of a head with variations…

Oh, I didn't mean do two tunes at the same time, but rather offer a choice of two tunes, because some may not want to play one of the tunes selected or it may be too advanced for them.

In one of the previous threads, Peter had suggested we could make this study group a sort of free for all where people would post a clip of the bebop tune they are working on, this is my practical alternative to that suggestion.

The Parker Omnibook lead sheet doesn't separate the sections, the one in Jazz Fake is clearer:

The book cuts the 8 bar intro.

I think will be confusing and chaotic.

Perhaps, we could just start with Moose and see how it goes.

The Omnibook doesn't include the 8 bar piano intro to MtM either, it just indicates that there is one.
