So anyway, back to some music. Here's a rendition of ATTYA I just did. Terrible quality, naturally.

There are many standard approaches for playing any tune in different jazz styles melodically and harmonically.
What generally gets muddy is when there is no organization for use of changes and extensions.

Like mixing old school b9s and b13s and Dim. expansions with modal II V from Dorian and Altered from MM. and Blue Notes.

Just b13s helps clean up the mud. I'm just referencing the Dom Chords and their related Chord Patterns

I think I'll just delete all my interactions with ragman in this thread. Christian started the thread and this idiotic argument between ragman and I only detracts from the productive contributions to it. I am not free of psychological foibles but a need to win arguments is not one of them. I apologize for playing a part in derailing this thread.

Not all arguments are idiotic. When a person puts forward a clear explanation and it's rejected by someone incapable of judging it properly then there's a case to argue.
