Mick is currently trying to do the Mooch tune while I've been trying to formulate a coherent reply to his post.

Well, yes, the good doctor wouldn't object to it but whereas he was a genius he was also... nuts.

Anyway, it's possible that Mick, bless him, knows a lot of crap when he sees it so here's a version specially for him. Excepting blue notes there's only one foreign body in it (a rather intrusive F#/Gb at 1.54) and that due to a momentary lapse in attention on my part, for which I am abjectly sorry.

And let us hope that any villagers still on the rampage get lost in the dark.

Turns out they found a more entertaining way to celebrate Friday the 13th.

Have you always picked with your thumb, rm?

No, I've done everything. Classical, folk, blues and bossa with fingers and lots of bluegrass with a pick. Playing in public demanded a pick most of the time for speed, volume and clarity. These days I just sit in my room plodding away with my thumb.

But I was mostly a singer. I only taught myself soloing after quite a number of years. Luckily I could already read and write music courtesy of school and Bert Weedon. School was classical and Bert Weedon wasn't :-)

Just under the wire but we allow more time for old folks.

I really liked the stride piano feel but there was too much happening at once, the vibes were too busy over the piano or the piano accompaniment was too active. Have 'em asking for more, not less.

Yep haha. I'm old now that I've passed the median age.
