So, if I watch 2-3 videos about Giant Steps, your's is likely going to show on my recommendations. Giant Steps is a very popular search (relatively speaking) so no doubt your video has shown up in lots of folks recommendations. My most popular video by far is one where I demo my new-at-the-time PRS Santana guitar. It didn't do me any favours, since it got a huge number of downvotes, no doubt from folks who expected a slightly better Santana impression. Hopefullyyour lovely performance has been more favourably received.

The algorithm is quite complicated, but one thing it rewards which I don’t think people realise because they are cynical and think it’s all about clickbait - is engagement - the longer people watch the more YouTube YouTube will weight your video. If they are clicking through at a high rate and watching most of you it vid, YouTube says to itself ‘this is a high quality video, let’s boost it.’
If you are seeing people on average are watching most or all of your video- well that speaks to the quality of your playing. And congratulations because playing videos tend not to be good performers. At least for me …

You Tube can provide that stat? Think I'd be skeptical about its accuracy too, to an algorithm, "most of" might be more than 20 seconds.
