This thread was confusing me and bumming me out. I couldn't understand why anyone would go out of their way to view something they can't stand and then post about how horrible the entertainer \ artist \ singer \ musician is.

Therefor I decided to post a performance from someone who I believe was at the top of their game, as a sort of cleanser.

I stand by my statement - having “balls”, which to me means a certain type of almost reckless confidence, IS a talent - probably one that can’t be taught or learned - but it may not be a sufficient one.

And I guess I assumed we were limiting our discussions here to humans.

I just checked and Jamey Aebersold Jazz Ed has an autographed J Rainey album for 9$, he also has the GREAT BOOK!!! that goes with it for about 6$ more. Includes his solo for Out Of Nowhere and several more. Mel Deal introduced me to Mr. Rainey when he played a morning show at either Belmont or Vanderbilt in Nashville a few ha ha years ago. I might buy it myself but I just spent 42$ on a Mike Elliot Chord Solo Book. I used to own theRainy book and record and its GREAT!!!

I must admit that I was so turned off by PB's un-soulful interpretation of Soul Man that I didn't even listen to Brand New Bag, much less do any research about the recording date. Thanks for the info. Sam definitely has "it" (as does JB!) and Pat does NOT :-)
