Man just heard of this... don't even know what to say.
-
I'm not doubting Sonny's info, but I'm struggling to find any references to this on the web. Anyhow, I know what I'll be listening to this evening - a great guitarist and a true gentleman.

A hero.
Jim is my greatest hero. I have no more words. I am deeply saddened. May his memory and legacy live on!

A long, full life, but I'm (perhaps selfishly) deeply saddened...Jim was still playing great...There was music left in him.
His music is one of the reasons I play...rest in peace Jim.
-
Very sad news indeed. Rest in peace, Jim, and thank you deeply for all your wonderful music which has enriched the lives of countless people.
-
Very sad news indeed. Thankfully we have a wonderful catalog of his music that will be enjoyed by generations of listeners.
-
I can't find any confirmation of this anywhere.

Jim was a real guitar hero to me. Vale, Jim!
-
Rest in Peace.
Music is the key that can open strange rooms in the house of memory.

Oh, no! Sad news. Yet it is gratifying to know that he knew that he was loved by legions of musicians. Thanks for everything, Jim!

One of the greatest jazz musicians of all time. RIP Jim, you'll be missed.
I used to listen to Sonny Rollins' "The Bridge" for hours and hours - "God bless the child" - just awesome.
his recordings with the wonderful Paul Desmond - just so much great music!
-
An incalculable loss to jazz guitar and truly, to music lovers everywhere.

Jim Hall signed this LP jacket for me a few years ago, quite graciously saying "thank you" as he signed -- to me!
No, Jim. Thank YOU!! Your contributions to music are legend.
RIP, maestro.

Thank you Mr. Hall you will always be an inspiration.

At least he died peacefully in his sleep, maybe even with a smile on his face, dreaming a nice dream. I can only hope for the same.
