I'm not doubting Sonny's info, but I'm struggling to find any references to this on the web. Anyhow, I know what I'll be listening to this evening - a great guitarist and a true gentleman.

    A hero.
Jim is my greatest hero. I have no more words. I am deeply saddened. May his memory and legacy live on!

A long, full life, but I'm (perhaps selfishly) deeply saddened...Jim was still playing great...There was music left in him.

His music is one of the reasons I play...rest in peace Jim.

Oh, no! Sad news. Yet it is gratifying to know that he knew that he was loved by legions of musicians. Thanks for everything, Jim!

One of the greatest jazz musicians of all time. RIP Jim, you'll be missed.
I used to listen to Sonny Rollins' "The Bridge" for hours and hours - "God bless the child" - just awesome.

his recordings with the wonderful Paul Desmond - just so much great music!

Jim Hall signed this LP jacket for me a few years ago, quite graciously saying "thank you" as he signed -- to me!

No, Jim. Thank YOU!! Your contributions to music are legend.

    RIP, maestro.

At least he died peacefully in his sleep, maybe even with a smile on his face, dreaming a nice dream. I can only hope for the same.

    RIP
