I kind of hate him but actually that was pretty good
-
But I don't think most blues & rock solos suck...
-
I mean, those solos suck because the guys can't play. All the expletive filled metaphors won't fix that, they've invested their whole life into avoiding theory because Hendrix was humble in some interview.

Dani used to post here quite a bit. He surely can play, and he's got a great ear for figuring out what the mechanics of their various styles and techniques. His videos on Gypsy Jazz picking, SRV's blues playing, and Jeff Beck's way of getting certain sounds are all very good. (He has a book out on Beck's techniques, but I haven't read it----I've got enough on my plate already and assume Jeff Beck is a mountain I will never attempt to climb.)

I check out something or other by him every month or so, though I don't always stay till the end.
For this video, I think the metaphor of painting is more useful than that of language.

I like Dani, I'm following him on FB, his vibe suits me. Even if I disagree with him sometimes, his humor, delivery, attitude makes it very entertaining. Most of the time he does have a good point thou. I don't really dive in into his theory and guitar instructional videos, but I remember one about GJ picking he mentioned half rest stroke which I never heard from anyone before, and it was very useful. So yea, Dani is da man!

Sure he's a great musician. I just don't have much patience for his whole social media shtick.

People also want to be told music is easy though, just learn this trick.
The two things combined makes for a certain vibe of jazz thumbnail haha.
Anyway his content isn’t made for people like me. Which is probably why he’s doing well.

Yeah, I don't think my attention is very marketable. I guess they're like online carnival barkers to me...not tempted to see what is, sort of annoyed, hope the actual content trends in the right direction (I think it probably is from when I started...but like, relax)

I'm 100% sure he'd take the job and continue to make videos about how Berklee is dumb.

It's not for everyone. I'm not always 'in tune' with it.

That's his strength. Delivery matters, even if I don't find his messages 100% to agree with, I still enjoy his videos simply because he's a character and highly entertaining. Attitude goes a long way.

Unfortunately jazz folks can be such bores sometimes.

So can YouTubers.
