Bill Frisell: The Great Flood (Turin Jazz Fest)

Has anyone seen this performance?

He is playing it at the Turin Jazz Festival next month. I was thinking of going. In a perfect world Id like to see his trio but I dont book the shows. Its not near me but a day away. Its a good excuse to go to Italy. John Scofield is playing the next night in town.

I did see Bill Frisell and combo play live, for a documentary about that Flood('27?'28?) of the Mississippi. At Dartmouth College, NH, at least ten(or more) years ago.

It was excellent, both the music and the film.

Big fan of Bill Frisell but have not seen that particular “show”. I’m sure it won’t disappoint, but don’t miss John Scofield and Co.

Im working on seeing both. Bill Frisell plays May 1 and Scofield the 2nd.

The wife wants a trip anyway so its a win win.

I tend to stay home too much. I think I will hit a few festivals this summer. Im not much of a tourist so this gives some focus to short trips. Ravi Coltrane is in the EU this summer too. During the heat of the south he will be north in Belgium. A good trip to Ghent and an escape from July heat.

I looked at the Montreaux Jazz Festival. It aint Jazz anymore. Of course there is some but they even have Rap. Its very expensive an very likely a zoo. I will stick with more modest events.
