Man, those were the days. Every once in a while there was a young guy with 70's hair filling in who played a LP Standard Burst, or sometimes a 335-ish guitar. I never figured out who he was.

Call me culturally deprived (I may deserve it in this instance) but I'd never heard of Bob Bain.....

    Remembering Bob Bain: 1924 – 2018 - Fretboard Journal

TV shows used to be good employment opportunities for jazz musicians, a guy with whom I went to high school had a steady gig on the Arsenio Hall show.

Guitarists who played in the Tonight Show band: Gene Bertoncini, Herb Ellis, Kevin Eubanks, Mitch Holder, Tony Mottola, Bucky Pizzarelli, Paul Woodford.

Not sure what you mean by "70's hair," but Mitch Holder was not known to play archtops, here's a pic of him when young.

Interesting, but for the famous high note "screechers," I always though Doc had a much more beautiful tone up there than Maynard (Not to take anything away from the great MF of course). But even when Doc reached up soooo high, he still had a nice round tone. MF, well he hit the notes screeching.

Johnny Neel at piano, likely the best keys man in the Allman Brothers including Leavell.

Yeah, a wah-wah pedal was considered a mandatory accessory back in the 70's if you played in a big band, the arrangers were all writing "comp with wah-wah" on the guitar part, I didn't have a wah-wah pedal so did something else.
