    I liked to play what are known as "Skips" within the "Four to the Bar" on DB.

    I still play "Skips" when guitar comping, but don't tell the guitarists.

    As I said I've never had a lesson so had to look up the term 'skip'. I've been doing that for ever! Never thought about it though other than it sounds great. (Yeah, and on guitar). Also I do a triplet thing that I heard once a very long time ago. Sometimes it uses ghost notes which are very effective. Again, I don't know the technical term for it but it sounds impressive even though it's easy. And ofcourse the audience loves some slap!
