.... and so after some extensive research, I can confirm that yes, Parker did give us the 8th note, and yes, he did call it "Gary" (right again Mr M.). He rested on the 6th day, and on the 7th day he gave us the flatted 5th (out of a quart of Rye). As told by Miles to a white music journalist in 1948 ...
