On the original version of Blue Bossa, which is on Joe Henderson's Page One album, the solos mostly just follow the changes.

I think of modal playing as having a longer time to bring out the feeling of the mode. At least 8 bars or something, depending on the tempo of course. Blue Bossa changes tonalities more frequently than that.
