I do both, I mean, to test a concept you need to conceptualise it first. There was a thread a while back about whether Theory can help you develop good lines.

Which is why I like inventing my own concepts, but each time I do, the genesis for an idea came from another existing idea you hear or read about, then you explore it until it morphs into your own thing. It's where the fun is for me.
