Another one of my amps, is the THD Univalve, and I have it coupled with an Avatar bottom with an Eminence 12 inch Private Jack.(ceramic magnet, and both my guitar PU's are ceramic, too,,ferrite) This amp is capable of pushing,,literally 'pushing' sound out, in a way I've not heard with other amps, and what I like about it is that it will produce very powerful clean tones. Single ended Class A, with only 3 tubes,(2 preamp, one power,,has an EL34 at moment) it can be very low maintenance, and it is self biasing(I've mentioned it before), so you can try different preamp and power tubes without any hassle. I'm not a big fan of the arch top, more muffled tone, tho don't like it distorted, either, at least, especially for jazz, and even fusion, and it can yield sustain on clean settings if you're near enough to it, for like, fusion, etc. Is rated at 15 watts, but is 22 with the present power tube,,it's so loud it's ridiculous,,need more volume,,take a line out into the PA,,should be loud enough for most venues, short of VERY large. It is too loud for my ears, if pushed, and that's my metric.

Prior to buying my electric guitar, I already had an amp for all my acoustic/nylon guitars. So I tried my new electric in my amp and loved the sound. So I use a Fishman Loudbox Artist. Works for me and my sound concept.
-
Two Mambo PA cabs and some pedals.

I am currently using a Sound Island (Henriksen) Alfresco or a 1966 Ampeg Jet. The Alfresco is loud and clean a great jazz amp, but I still like having the tube sound sometimes and the Ampeg is great for that clean glassy sound.
-
I was using a Henriksen 112 that was converted to a 312 by Peter H. I just sold that, and now use a Fender George Benson Hot Rod Deluxe. Both are great amps, but the GB is more versatile.
-
Allen Old Flame head with Mather 1x12 semi open back cab with EV SRO (ceramic) for main amp/jazz; Vintage Sound Deluxe with Celestion Lead 80, upgraded to 35 watts per the Island Sound jazz model for lower volume gigs; Vintage Sound black faced early 70's Dual Showman in a new Mather twin cab with Celestion 12-65's for Basement jazz and louder jazz gigs (none of those in a while); and a Fryette/VHT 50 ST head with closed back 2x12 VHT cab, Lead 80 / Weber blue dog for fusion/rock gigs. Lots of pedals.

5E3 with a Cannabis Rex Speaker

1. 1952 Fender Pro - a great sounding amp I enjoy playing at home.
2. A Henriksen Jazzamp head through a RE Twin 8 cab. - This has a really thick jazz tone that still somehow stays clear. It's loud, in fact it has to be cranked to "band with horns and drummer" volume before it starts sounding it's best. I use it for loud band/large or noisy venue gigs.
3. Polytone Mega Brute - I use this for 80% of my gigs and every rehearsal. Super easy to transport. Although it doesn't have the low end like the bigger amps it still sounds good and unlike the bigger Polytones the reverb sounds nice as well.

Cool retro PT stuff.

What do you mean by "pure jazz tone?" (I'm being serious, not snarky.)

For Jazz gigs: Acoustic Image Clarus with Raezer's Edge Stealth 10, Stealth 12 or NY 8 ; or Polytone Minibrain with Raezer's Edge Twin 8
For Gypsy Jazz gigs: AER Compact 60 (with solid oak cabinet)
For Western Swing/Country gigs: 1964 Fender Princeton with JBL D-110 and Tone Candy Spring Reverb pedal; or 1974 Fender Deluxe Reverb with Tone Tubby Alnico Red
I haven't played a rock or blues gig in years, but if one came up, I would use the Deluxe Reverb with an Ibanez Tube Screamer in front of it.

It's a Gibson F4 Mandocello. Here's a vid of one, played by someone else.

Woody Sound,
The guitar in my avatar is called, "The Finger Kicker." It is a passive electric nylon string guitar that I personally built. It was molded after Gibson Studio Classic and Kirk Sands version of it, but I did some modifications to the design. Sweet sounding guitar.
You can see a bigger pic of it here:

I have been playing a pretty steady blues gig for the past 25 years. I find that I have stayed away from pedals and a more "frayed" tone. I stick to a more Hubert Sumlin-like tone--just my guitar and a small Fender amp (usually a tweed 5e3 Deluxe). Like Sumlin, I have tried different guitars but keep coming back around to a Stratocaster.

Oh man, that's the amp I learned on and played all through the 90s! Oh, the memories. I loved that thing.

I either go acoustic or plug into an Acoustic Image Clarus for the following reasons.
1. It never needs maintenance.
2. The sounds quantity is consistently good without popping or tube microphonics.
3. If I want a bit of time crunch, I can easily run through my Joyo American pedal.

A 12 inch polytone minibrute I from 83 that I got used for 25 euros.
It does traditional jazz, funk, modern jazz. Some rock tones. And even gypsy jazz with my magnetic pickup. I haven't used another amp since I found it 5 years ago. Sometimes I miss my 62' tremolux. Plug it in. Love the sound. Plug into the polytone again. And put back the tremolux into the attic.
