In truth, let's be bluntly honest about it, I'm shite!

Guitars have been part of my humble commoner's life since my early childhood.

I should be an absolute God by now but considering the many decades that wrnt by, on/off guitar, dabbing in all different styles, I'm mediocre.

I do not even have any will left to try and better myself at it and came to terms with it, accepting that mediocre is where I will be. So why keeping at it?!!?

    You're still you.
People don't want a god, they want a human.
Just being you is as good as it gets.
But i suppose i can understand your feeling.

I can relate to that, even though I prefer to ascribe my own mediocrity to lack of time and/or focus.

My hiatuses systematically run on the order of several months, followed by a phase of my left hand needing to readjust, starting on 10s without overdoing it, gradually tolerating 11s, and ideally making it to 12s, which is where my right hand really wants to be.

Nevertheless, I greatly enjoy coming back after hiatuses, these days usually driven by a frantic effort to keep specific concepts and ideas alive.

Years ago, what mattered to me was new ideas. Today I almost shun them, every new "idea" being either a foreboding of really serious work to be done or ending up as another entry on the perennial to-do list somewhere in the back of my mind.

Anyway, I no longer experience musical "ideas" as particularly favorable from a mental-hygiene point of view.

I made real progress when I stopped trying to do what everyone else was doing. In doing so I found my own voice, even though at first it was giving out just an incoherent mumble. But slowly over time some people wanted hear what I was mumbling, and slowly it started being more coherent. No one comes to my YouTube channel because I’m a virtuoso master. If they come at all it’s because I have a voice they want to hear…sometimes…and that’s more than enough for me. In short, I made progress when I stopped trying. Just let your own thing happen. And ffs don’t judge it.
