Thomastik swing restrings tips

Hello I have bought a set of Thomastik swing FLATWOUND to make sn experiment on my acoustic guitar.
I needs some help to correct installation
I know that FLATWOUND and round core string must be folded 90° before cutting.
Thomastik swing are terminated with fabric thread , see photo.

So the question is : how to insert correctly the strings into tuners ( tuning pegs ) ?
must be insert only part of the string FLATWOUND or also part of string with fabric threads ?

I would only make sure the string was the right length to have the right amount of coils around the post, I can't imagine having part of the fabric on there matters enough to change the amount of string you'd normally use

One time the string wouldnt fit into my tailpiece so I cut the fabric off with a razor blade and it had no effect
