That's the drummer who used to tour with Kayne West, his name is Charles Haynes, one of the most incredible drummers i've ever seen. He used to play in Boston when i was there, funk and jazz gigs, with Roy Hardgrove, Aaron Goldberg, Ruben Rogers, bunch of other guys. Can't get better! I suspect the rest of Kayne West's band is of equal caliber..

I'm sure Hitler had a good rhythm section too.

Kanye and Ari Emanuel will work out their differences. They haven't exactly paid their dues in California.

I spend most of my time on youtube, but that doesn't seem like social media.
I see a lot of gigging musician in this area using social media (Facebook and Instagram) to promote their band, gigs, recordings. And they should imo.
Larkin Poe has really grown their following with Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Jacob Collier's career was launched when his YouTube videos went viral.
If you're a pro muscian, why wouldn't you use social media?

Youtube is the real music business now. It's not what's going on in lah lah land. That's just entertainment.

It's become a crucial part of the music industry, and YouTube especially has become a hub for music. If you're a pro musician, utilizing social media seems like a no-brainer. By the way, I recently stumbled upon a website where you can get real TikTok likes if you're interested in boosting your TikTok presence.

It's incredible to see how different each platform is when it comes to building a community or promoting a business. Considering this thread is a year old, I'm curious to know if any of you have shifted your social media focus since the original post? Any new platforms you're excited about?
-
Hmm, ok, I'll admit to more time on youtube, reddit and Chat GPT. It means less time on guitar, or even here, so it's somewhat regrettable...

It's interesting to think about how our social media habits have evolved over time, especially when we start branching out to multiple platforms. While I love spending time here on JGO, I can't deny the pull of other social spaces like Facebook and Instagram. I've even dabbled a bit in TikTok recently.

I’ve noticed that the more time I spend bouncing between sites, the easier it is to lose track of what I’m actually doing online. Keeping an eye on things like how much scrolling I do or which friends I interact with helps a lot. I’ve even used instagram influencers service as a way to see patterns in my own habits, since the tracking it gives me shows who and what keeps pulling me back in.

So this thread is over 3 years old now, I wonder how we've changed? Personally, I know I now spend way too much time using Chat GPT, even for some things I used to ask this Forum about. It's not good, I've decided, I think I'd rather get questionable opinions from my fellow humans than over-confident assertions from a smart ass robot.
And yet...

The social media I use are youtube and forums. I got rid of facebook and other aux social media. I also can't stand TV so got rid of that. TV isn't social media, but it's still very spazzy media. I just need to be able to watch clips on demand so I use youtube. Youtube still gets triggerish tho so I have to limit it. But that's better than having a continuous trig and spaz drip all day.

I no longer spend hours on line.

But all in all, many more hours in the day for guitar playing! It kind of like going back in time.

Cellphones and the social media we consume on them, will be the cigarettes of our generation.

If I were working and gigging more engagement would be required.

Agreed, the grammatical structure of the Poll and OP is vague.

There are 8 (or 9) different internet forums that I visit regularly, including JG. It would be lazy for me to suggest I spend 1/8th of my total time on each, but I'll bet if you averaged the usage over the course of a year it works out to surprisingly close to an even distribution
...though heavily skewed towards TalkBass.com

I'm happy to see BassCliff has returned.
