There wasn't a socio-political agenda behind midi sequences and samplers?

    Very interesting video.

Without getting into the political or social aspects of AI tech in music; let me share part of the story of how it has already affected my life as a musician.

In 2002 I made a transition from being a full time Bassist/Guitarist to writing almost exclusively music for film.

I composed music for film from 2002 until 2022, at which time I decided that due to the changing conditions in the job, that I would return to playing again.

Some of the factors were library music and the emerging use of AI in the film music field, which changed the attitude to the skills of a composer.

I don't want to get into all of the details, but suffice it to say that library music and the beginnings of AI started to change the expectations and creative freedom that I often experienced when working primarily with the film's director.

I recently met with one of my film music colleagues who demonstrated some of what what SUMO (the AI software that is discussed in the video) is currently capable of; this confirmed that I made the right decision.

One of the reasons that I post on this forum is to get my playing back to where I was in 2002 before making the detour into film music. (almost there!)

I spoke with a big sync company this week, they want me and my music in their roster...ok, after the google meet they sent me the contract and...the contract say that they can use my music to train a AI... so finally the AI will copy my music, theres about 150 thousand songs a day uploaded to Spotify, 50 thousand made with AI, most sync people recognize that they use AI music for podcasts, youtube videos, background music, etc...is quicker and cheaper.

Shall I sign this contract and see what happens with this company or let my music die in my hardrive or even worse on my youtube channel with less than 300 views...?

It seems like the only part of the music field AI won't destroy is the live music gigs.

I listen to a radio show where the host always keeps saying that "Life is Like Science Fiction".
Last week he changed that saying to "Life is like a dystopian nightmare".
I think this content falls into that category...
