I have a Vox AC4 that sounds great, and my son has a Roland Micro cube which is a fantastic sounding amp. I haven't played through one but I hear Vox Pathfinders have great tone & I see them on CraigsList frequently for $80.00 or less.

Just a quick update to close the loop on this -- thanks again for all of the suggestions. I've just taken ownership of a Roland Cube 20XL and I'm quite happy with the sound; it will suit my needs perfectly.

Glad you found that little 20X to our liking. It's a nice versatle amp, and so nice to just pop in the car to jam with a few friends.

I recently bought myself a Kingpin and have played it through both my amps - a Fender SXCD and a Roland Cube 30. Sounds good through both on the clean channels but if I had to go for one it would be the Cube.
