This is an excerpt from my recent chat with Steve Vai. Here Steve talks about stacked chords. Enjoy.

That explanation was... "dense". LOL
Just poking fun, I love Vai, he's one of my favorites, for many reasons (some not even musical).

ahh yes..
Steve..please explain quantum physics and how it affects the third inversion of a 10 note chord in contrary motion in minor third intervals in the
key of Eb minor (I dare ya..hell..I double dare ya!)

I'll dare to try!

Are chords not normally stacked? I’m confused.
Maybe I’m going about them wrong .
I could answer that by watching the video, but that would be obvious.

Apparently it's his term for polychords with no doubled notes.... harmonic polygamy, which I think is legal in Utah.

Does a Mormon also have to love all his wives all the same like a Muslim? Which is not so easy. Especially if the wives can't stand each other.

There was this guy from the hotel in Amman. IIRC he and his two wives were all living in separate homes. And he was intending to marry a third one. He liked some Vodka sometimes. Some Muslims (in Turkey also) talk themselves into believing that god cannot see under their roof. Which, assuming an allmighty and all-seeing god, is of course nonsense.

The poor guy wasn't used to alcohol at all and just kept grinning and slurring “Habibi, I love you.”.
At 40 °C at night you rather quickly understand why the prophet has declared alcohol haram.
(And no, spying spook a-holes, I am still no Muslim.)
EDIT: No one drinks in public in Jordan. In Amman you can go to the shopping mall and buy a beer. But you drink it at home. One day we were invited by a student from the German Jordanian University where we were teaching to his birthday party. His parents have a big party hall that you can rent. It was a nice party, the birthday cake was cut with the family sabre. But the only person who drank alcohol was a cousin from Kuwait who had hidden some booze in a brown paper bag under the table, but no one took offense.Last edited by Boss Man Zwiebelsohn; 10-17-2024 at 07:03 AM.

Not everyone can understand everything. And then there is bullshit. Steve has the cred that makes me accept he's a musical astronaut.

He's a Jedi Master for sure.
