I think Kenny Clarke got enough respect as one of the creators of the bebop style and as an African-American human being at least after moving to Europe.

"Royal Roost" resp. "Rue Chaptal" is credited to him; under the name "Tenor Madness" the same blues tune is credited to Sonny Rollins. And under the name "Sportin' Crowd" to Hank Mobley ...
