Hello everyone, I've been working on this arrangement of the beautiful tune "Summer in Central Park" by Horace Silver. I stumbled upon this tune and was blown away by it!
What is your favorite Horace Silver tune? I'm looking for some more to work on!

Great tune, and a fine rendition of it! I haven't played it in years, will have to revisit it. Peace and Nica's Dream are the only other tunes of his I know.

    Aha! Many great ones.
    Pyramid,
    Moonrays,
    Jungle Juice,
    Barbara,
    Horace-scope
    Where you at
    The Outlaw
    Mellow mood
    The Dragon Lady
    Ecaroh
    Señor Blues

I suppose a lot of these don't lend themselves well to solo arrangements though. So i probably shouldn't add anything here. But couldn't help reply because excellent tunes and i really like them.

Nice! Such a beautiful tune, lovely arrangement with wonderful tone.

Strollin’ leaps to mind, but I’ve mostly only played it in a combo. I did work out a one chorus guitar part for it that sort of stands on its own, and more or less inspired by Emily Remler’s take. His Song for my Father gets called here at jam sessions once in a while and is fun to play on but I’ve not arranged it. I agree, Nica’s Dream is very nice.

For now, here’s Strollin’ in a combo setting, with a trumpet playing the theme, under which I’m playing my solo arrangement:

    Theme begins after some fours.

Your post inspired me to look at some of his other work. Thanks!
