This is my tribute to the great Billy Bauer who was my teacher in the 1970s and 80s. It’s his jazz line over the tune “September in the Rain” from the seminal 1949 Crosscurrents recording with Lennie Tristano, Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, Arnold Fishkin and Denzil Best. I did some octave doubling on the outgoing head as a kind of poor man’s (or lazy man’s ) Super Sax.
