I feel absolutely sick that I am compelled to play this song yet again as the drums of war beat us senseless. I would so prefer to play this as a celebration of enduring peace rather repeatedly as a requiem for the decline of civilization.

I admire your peace stance but without “far-reaching adjustments” I am not hopeful.

    Lovely music and that helps.

It’s very discouraging. To be honest, I’m glad my wife and I never had kids. We’ve had a good run, but for all the young people….

It will be a good day when we can choose to play Horace Silver’s composition solely because it is both a beautiful composition and notion. Alas once more it serves as an evocation iof the stark contrast to our present reality of the misguided choices being made.Beautiful playing.

It seems to be human nature to follow autocratic leaders. To hide the uncomfortable facts and to want to beat each other's heads for it. I fear the world my children will live in. Perhaps music or any other art form can be a place of refuge. Wonderful performance Mark

We've been fighting wars since the beginning of human existence. Mostly males.

    Unfortunately, we never learn.

"The earliest recorded war occurred around 2700 BC between the Sumerians and the Elamites. However, conflicts likely began much earlier, during the late Paleolithic or early Neolithic periods, although there are no records from that time."

Unfortunately the adage that it is better to make friends than enemies is lost on some. And once started, wars no longer end. The last unconditional surrender was in 1945. Since then, no war has truly ended. The US collapses into the latest failed empire and China moves to fill the void.

Thank you, Mark, for an oasis of beauty and peace in a world more concerned with power and dominance.

Thanks, for further exploration of the oasis, I’ve posted a couple of things in the “improv” sub forum you might find interesting. Best wishes!

    Sad but true.

For all the good things humans have done in recorded history..we still use the eraser end of the pencil.

In all the numerous volumes written on how to end wars..I hear the eternal quest in a simple folk tune.
