In a sentimental mood

I submit to you, In a Sentimental Mood.

A rare guitar/bass/drums trio gig for me. I prefer to play with a horn over drums of it’s got to be a trio. This was supposed to be a quartet, but trumpet got sick and I didn’t feel like calling 15 guys trying to get a sub.

I think I did okay.

Nice! Some great motivic development. I particularly like the descending line with the rhythmic displacement around 2m20s.

Sounds great! like it was late in the day I imagine...like a jazz ballad that’s just taken a double dose of cough syrup—percussion crawling at snail speed, cymbals sighing like sleepy gongs, and the whole band wondering if gravity suddenly got heavier.

But holding its own, yeah.
