The first third or so is based on a transcription I found of George Benson's solo on the song. It's mostly under the fingers (at a pretty slow tempo by George's standards!) but I screw up in places. The last two thirds is my attempting to improvise. Quite a profound difference, alas.

Well, I for one felt the transition from Benson to you was more seamless than you might imagine...

Nicely done, Cliff. I'm with James, it's a lot more seamless than your comments would have us believe.

Well done, you're making some excellent progress. I guess the only thing I could suggest is to play with a bit more conviction. Sometimes I feel you are a little tentative, as if worried about a wrong note. Nothing you played stood out as being wrong, so play with the attitude that what you're producing is exactly what you intended producing.

But that's a suggestion, not a criticism. You're doing fantastic.

Thanks Derek. I guess the most obvious thing is my phrases are shorter and there are larger gaps between them . I appreciate your comments about the lack of conviction - it's definitely something I still need to improve.
