I use Reaper as my DA and it comes with a lot of plugins. I use their graphic EQ and sometimes their tremolo.
For my amp sim, I use either Scuffham S-Gear or Noire Tones.
Everything else I use is freeware.
For Tremolo, when I want something a bit more vintage sounding, i use Pecheneg Tremolo1.
For my IR loader/speaker sim, I use Lancaster's Pulse. There is also a Pulse 2 now but I continue to use the original.
For reverb I mostly use Tal 2. The current version is 4. I like the quality of version 4 but my favorite verb patch is on V2.
For compression I use Klanghelm's MJUCjr
For increasing volume in mixing I use Thomas Mundt's Loudmax and I track output levels with the Youlean Loudness Meter.
I've collected dozens of free plugins over the years and bought a few as well, but those cover the overwhelming majority of my needs and uses. Recently, I've also started working with a VST host for playing live at home and after some experimenting, it appears that my choice for that is turning out to be Cantabile.Last edited by Jim Soloway; 01-14-2026 at 08:52 PM.

For reverbs, I got Abbey Road Plates and Seventh Heaven and I like 'em both.Last edited by mikeSF; 01-18-2026 at 03:12 AM.

The Custom '57 Tweed amp model in the Scuffman plugin doesn't sound as good as the DI from my amp, so my plan B is receive the DI from my amp and add a miked cabinet IR from one of the amp sims I already own, such as Amplitube 5. I'm going to kick that around this weekend.

I also can get by using stock plugins in reaper. There are some spring reverbs too (not stock)
