The body of my Zoom H4n Pro 'Handy Recorder' developed a gooy stickiness from whatever coating that had been applied.
It's nasty, and makes it difficult to impossible to handle without getting it on my hands and fingers.
Their reply is that it's out of warranty, they'll send a silicone case and battery compartment cover for free, or a new unit for $xxx.
I asked for the case and cover first to see if that works for me. I also asked if there was a way to clean the coating off w/o damaging the unit. I'll wait for a reply.
Anyone else here have to deal with this, and what did you do please? I would think a high volatile agent like goo be gone could work maybe, but I don't really like to give myself chemo in the process.
Thanks

A quick interweb search of this topic shows it's not an uncommon issue. There are many discussions on solutions and even some tutorial videos to boot. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

The one I saw, the guy from Ireland(?) used isopropyl alchohol and it did the trick everywhere but the battery cover.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
