Can you give us tech-challenged types a hint on how to do that?

absolutely! you can either buy credits at the usual suspects like lalal.ai or use free services for stem separation like mvsep: MVSEP - Music & Voice Separation

I tried Jamzone and it was super realistic as an Android option.

I think the Quartet app was recently pulled from the Android store, probably because it was hard for them to support all these different devices.. Pity.

Boomer speaking here... but I cannot stress enough how grateful I am for this piece of information.
I used MVsep to separate the stems from a couple of tunes then combined the resulting rhythm section files on Reaper and voilà, I have now a homemade minus-one version of any possible tune at the touch of a button, maybe two. Reaper can even slowdown the rendered file. Endless opportunities!
