Certainly an absolutely unique musician, composer and bandleader , constantly on tour and recording since the early 70's and when you learn how he came to the guitar as he was already working as a jazz pianist (and trumpet) you'll be even more amazed. He is certainly one other master who's worthy of some wider recognition....
And he did embrace electricity and modern instruments , both with his group OREGON and in other settings, used keyboard sythesizers and a FRAMEWORKS guitar (no actual body, just a central beam for the strings/fingerboard and a frame made of aluminum tubes) with a hex-pickup to drive synths but YES, he did never play an electric guitar (on stage).

I love Ralph Towner and I spend a lot of time learning his songs. Aside from the two great transcriptions books
