I was recently put on to his solo on Anthropology and have been on a deep dive ever since. Best rhythm changes solo I've ever heard on guitar. Reminds me of Bud Powell and Wes Montgomery...so young too. Monster player.

Latest treasure trove I've stumbled upon from him. Here he is playing several standards in a trio with a great electric bassist and drummer.
It's like every phrase that comes out of him is PERFECT...unreal

The female guitarist in the first one, Fumika Asari, has a great album "Thanks for Emily" check her out too.

Oh yeah she's definitely no slouch, but I'm starting to get damn near evangelical for my guy lol. Beautiful bebop phrases for days and what a pretty tone he gets. I haven't been this moved/inspired by a player in a long time.

Phenomenal players. I’ll never play jazz like that, sadly, but it’s great to listen and watch.

He’s blazing lick after lick, all high octane and some light and shade would work better for me. His technique and vocabulary are stellar, regardless of age. He’s got access to some mighty fine guitars, btw.

After a recent YouTube deep dive, I made a playlist with my favorite performances of his. Hope you guys enjoy.

Truly a monster player, leaving us all in awe.

Finally got to this. It's great, also making me realize I'm not very good haha!

James, this is the link you want. Murphy's made a playlist of all the ittle bits on YouTube of Koichi.
