You are correct. He graduated from North Texas with a degree in music, and did room with Herb Ellis. They made an album together btw, which I have not listened to yet, but it’s on my list.

Jimmy did do some grad work at UCLA after the war but left to study composition privately. I thought that’s where he met Herb, but I was mistaken.

Looks like Jimmy Raney who was often pictured with a non-cutaway ES 125 in those days.

Jimmy had blond hair and was born in ‘27. In ‘62, he was 35. That guy seems younger, plus the hair color.

I didn’t know Jimmy played an ES-125. His uncut workhorse archtop was a ’40 ES-150 that was stolen in the early ‘60s. Can’t remember exactly when.

Jimmy Raney was not a performer at either festival. The guitarist in the clip perhaps was a local musician.

American for sure. BTW the amp was a Gibson, IIRC. I don't think anybody in Finland had one.
