I had never heard of him until this evening. My wife shared this video clip with me.
Guy is 96 and still playing out. Because of his age/infirmities he's using a kitchen cabinet knob for a pick. I checked him out on Spotify and he's got some nice recordings.

George! I used to sit in with him on Thursday nights at Sid's Tropical Den in Southside Chicago. Such a great and unique player, glad to see he's getting wider recognition

I saw him a few times when I lived in Chicago. He was Von Freeman and Buzz Freeman's brother. The players demanding wider recognition in Chicago, it could be a book! When I saw him once in 1999, during between-song banter, he said something along the lines of "I have a new recording out called 'George Burns'. Now, when I say that, your mind might automatically think about something else. And that something else, is a completely different thing, than what I'm talking about. I'm talking about 'George Burns'".
And the way he said it, was hilarious.

He had a great routine with the crowd at the Tropical Den
George "Let me hear you say YEAH!"
Crowd "YEAH!"
George "Let me hear you say HELL YEAH!"
Crowd " HELL YEAH!"
George "Buy me a drink!"
Crowd " HELL NO!"

I used to play in the house band at a theater, unless the featured act brought in their own rhythm section. One week they brought in George.
