Love the Basie band. Their albums with Frank Sinatra are some of my favorites (I have a couple of nice vintage LPs).
I saw Count Basie in 1979 or 80 in Atlanta. They played at a local high school (Druid Hills, if you’re interested) near my college. A friend of mine convinced me to go and said he thought we could score some free tix. When we got to the auditorium, he told the ticket takers that we were reviewing the concert for the Emory student newspaper, which wasn’t remotely true.
They said, well, we don’t have you on our list, so if you want to get in you’ll have to pay $8 like everyone else. We paid our $8. Dave said on the way in, “I’m going to take this up to the Publication Council.” LOL…
It was a good show. I don’t remember it too well, to be honest and don’t recall Freddie Green at all. Just remember the Count with his skipper’s hat beaming at the audience.

The Basie band was always tight. From the '30s until his death. And Freddie helped tighten it up. You can hear him better here:
Same concert.
Has anyone tried the JHS Clover preamp pedal?
