I have a few albums by Albert… really enjoy his playing style. He has studied with a few other great contemporaries, including Gilad, I believe… you can really hear some of that influence here.

I like the filtering of Israeli/middle East folk and dance music through Gilad and now through Albert, at least that’s how I hear the roots of this music (Gilad being one of the amazing young Israeli jazz artists of our day.) Interesting how influences move through music… like a flavor moving through water, or flavors migrating through chefs from different cooking backgrounds.
