I totally dig this guy. Especially into The Wishing Stones recording. Also like what he did on the Abstract Logix release on a couple tracks with Jimmy Herring.

I saw him play a free concert at a library. Great fusion player. It's not my thing, so I didn't buy the Wishing Stones CDs he was selling during the break, but a lot of people did. He didn't knock me out on the one jazz thing he played, but he's got the fusion bag down. Fine player.

I'm that way with a lot of quality musicians...completely respect the talent...what they do just isn't my bag.

Tom Guarna is also a great straight-ahead player. Check out his early Steeplechase albums or guest appearances such as this one with saxophonist, Dave Anderson:

Indeed. I didn't even know he was a fusioneer. I heard a cut from "Out From the Underground" on Bob Parlocha's show years ago, bought the disc, and wore it out :-) Just super great straight-ahead stuff. Somehow never got around to checking out Tom's other work, but now I am curious. Thanks for the bump on this truly great player.
