Starts off with some Krantz-like effect (what's that pedal called?) then settles into a blues in C. Not really Some great, fun outside soloing from both Gilad and Aaron Parks on keys.

Rather surprised at this forum's silence about Gilad as he seems to get a lot of praise in jazz circles in general. So it's not just me

Well I enjoyed that, even though I’m old enough to be Gilad’s dad.

The effect in the first 20 seconds (before the video proper started) sounded like a ring modulator (you are correct in thinking that Krantz uses one).

There’s sometimes discussion of these players in the gear section by the way. Some I can recall are: how does Rosenwinkel cut off the attack on his notes (a thing called a POG I believe), what octave bass effect does Gilad use (a Boss OC3 or similar I think), recently a thread on how does Ben Monder get his sound (in the recording section), how does Mike Moreno get his sound, discussion of Julian Lage’s telecaster, etc.

Sooner or later I plan to do a solo gig involving that Boss OC3 and a looper. I knew I had to have one after seeing Gilad's demo video ages ago.
