I just discovered this solo 7 string album by Jerry Case, who unfortunately just passed away in 2024. He plays a modified Epiphone archtop with an extra tuning peg hanging off the top of the headstock (didn’t widen the neck, from what I can tell). I have been fascinated by his fingerstyle / hybrid picking approach. He has deep roots in Texas country music, but many other influences are apparent in his playing. His rendition of the theme to MASH transforms into what sounds like a Bach piece. I’d love to see a digital re-release, as it’s only on vinyl, and now on YouTube thanks to Mack W’s channel. If you want to learn more, a quick google search will turn up a few interviews, tributes, photos, and videos. He deserves to be more widely known.
