It looks like they blacked out the Epiphone logo on the headstock of that Deluxe.

I think Bucky was still in high school when he started playing with Vaughn Monroe.

Makes is still making guitar strings but I've never seen this brand in any guitar shop.

I used Mapes for years in the 1970s for my flat top. They came on one gauge—heavy. I had to build up good calluses and couldn’t do wide bends, but I liked the piano-brightness of those piano strings.

What would be the gauge for the top E string for Mapes - heavy? 12 or 13?

Three extra strings is pretty sweet, not to mention the "gold" plating.

13! I still have the original box because it was built like a tank, at least as well as a cardboard box can be. It had no info on gauges. The dealer said they only had the one gauge. Someone warned me to watch for any failures of the bridge or bracing, but my old Ovation was also built like a tank. I still have it too! Due to years of using 13s I’ve never felt comfortable playing light strings. 11s are OK, but lighter than that feels wrong.

I found the gauges listed on eBay:
