I will again try to resurrect the spirit of our lord and master as I play 'Solo Flight' with a 17 piece big band (thanks to Rob McKillop offering the parts here) live, at our last concet of the summer in Rye Playland, NY.

If you recall, last year I made a touching, heart-breaking speech about CC's short life, and then went into a 50 minute rant about how African-American youth should look up to someone like CC as their role models, instead of Trump supporter Kanye, and was politely escorted off stage by two armed security men, and five would-be rappers in the crowd. The performance became a kind of performance art piece, in which I invoked the spirit of CC, without even playing a note!

I'm very glad you made that speech, we all gotta do what we can to keep the spirit of CC alive. I play CC to every guitarist I know that hasn't heard him properly. How is it that there are guitar players out there that don't know a thing about Charlie Christian? If we have Guitar Gods, he is , obviously and without doubt, at the VERY top! The veritable Guitar God's Guitar God. It's not just African Americans that need to acknowledge this, but the whole damn world does and until they do his anonymity shall remain an embarrassing and shameful travesty....

Ahhhhhhhh! That's one of the worst "might have beens" that i've heard in a long time! Monk and CC together? That would have been so awesome! For me, that gets me even more than the supposed live tapes of Coltrane and Wes.
