I only picked 5 from 14. Hmm, that's a whopping fail

I guessed 10 out of 14 right, although I probably would have not picked Bireli for no. 10 without the hint.
-
10 is really good imo.
I only got 6.
can't believe I missed Pass and Hall
-
Oh, there were hints? I just saw them again and yeah, the hints probably could have helped guess a couple more. I did a similar thing once with sax players and did very well, oops!... Goes to show what I mainly listen to!

You beat me...I only got 7 right.

The Pass example, like the hint says, is not typical Pass, so don't feel bad about it. I picked Pass for the rolling credits though, do I get extra credit?

8 right .. messed up jim and joe

Missed 9 & 11.

Gosh, 12! You must be a fan of Jazz guitar!

I also got 6. While I select Scofield and Abercrombie I had them reserved; my of my.

Missed a few actually! Tal Farlow I got right away, which is funny given I don't listen to him much. I got 7 or 8.
The players I missed are the one's I don't really listen too much though - Abercrombie, Breau (what a bebop cat!) and Benson (lol don't shoot me.)
But some guys are one noters (one note and you've got them) - Jim Hall, Frisell, Sco, Metheny and Django.
Garland - I know that record.
Birelli I thought it was him, but then he played lots of left hand slurring and I was confused.
Gambale - could tell he was a fusion cat (very straight feel) but couldn't place him.
Is it just me or has the development in guitar technology and musical styles within jazz allowed more of a diversity of approaches, making modern players easier to identify?Last edited by christianm77; 07-07-2017 at 11:12 AM.

Well, I've listened to a lot of jazz guitar but I only got 6 right, 7 if you include the credit roll. That said, one can hear the influences of older players in the younger players (relatively speaking) e.g. Pat Martino in Pat Metheny.
-
10. Kind of. I wrote down a few names for each, for 7 I got it right on the first name.
Missed Hall, my favorite by far out of any of them... Shitty example, imho.
-
Got 6. Honestly more than I was expecting to get.
I do agree, the first few sounded similar style wise.
-
I got 5
Jim Hall was obvious for me. Pat / Sco /Django were too easy. All that more difficult stuff I made mistakes with :-D
-
This is fun! Can we do another one at some point? And can we get away with copyright on YouTube?
-
What gave it away for me (and the only thing I don't dig about Lenny's playing) is when he goes above the guitar's typical range.

Not a total of 5. I got 1 right. #5 was Django.

Hehe, you're just saying' that to make me feel better, right?...

Has anyone tried the JHS Clover preamp pedal?
