I studied with Garrison back in the 90's, and took an ear training class with him. He could be a tough teacher, but I learned a great deal from him. May he rest in peace.

Garrison was a big fun of Pat Martino. I remember his presentation on jazz guitar workshop/1994/ .He presented Pat Marino's "Just friends" solo playing it with Pat recording. He done it perfect. He used only arch-tops guitars playing jazz music and did not experiment with solid body guitars like Tele ...etc. Good wine and good sounding arch-top...this is this.

Garrison was always an educator in all he played, created and taught. He's established a scholarship fund, that I've got the link to below. I'm not affiliated with any of the parties involved but merely passing on the wishes and legacy that he put in motion through his life.

Here's one from his final performance.

I have missed the bad news - just read that he passed away in a post on another thread.

As a beginner in jazz I was searching high and low for material to work with to get started and somebody on this forum mentioned Garrison's books and posted links to some demo clips on youtube which convinced me that purchasing one would be a good idea. And a good idea it was! Working through the first few pages made me play something that at least sounded "jazzy" right from the start - putting me on the right path and making me realize that I'd actually would be able to do it. Still working with and learning from his two books.
Since he invited readers to get in touch with him if a question would arise I was bold enough to do so (several times actually) and he always replied almost immediately with thoughtful and very educational and encouraging words.
    Thank you, Mr. Fewell
